LDN Psoriais Pilot Study
Diary, News, Research December 11th. 2008, 12:30pmThe first LDN psoriasis pilot started in Glasgow yesterday. The plan is to recruit ten subjects who will receive LDN for three months. The first two patients were inducted into the trial at The Essential Health Clinic in Glasgow on the 10th December. It is hoped that the trial will be completed in time to be presented at the Conference in April in Glasgow. There are almost 1million psoriasis sufferers in the UK and 125 million worldwide. Although there are now some very effective treatments for severe psoriasis, the vast majority of patients do not qualify for this sometimes toxic treatment. There is a clear gap in the treatment provision for a non toxic oral treatment which could be LDN.

Hi Being a sufferer of both psoriatic arthritis,(5years) and psoriasis for 24years. I am very interested in learning more about this treatment. I am a cardiac physiologist working in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. I have recently just returned to work after a fairly long absence and an admission into the dermatology ward in Crosshouse Hospital for 7 weeks. I have had to adjust my work life as i have reduced my hours to have a decent quality of life. I would be very interested in learning more about this therapy as the next step for me is being started on anti TNF therapy and at 37yrs I have concerns regarding my fertility (i have no children at the moment) and the toxic impact of this on my system.
Debbie,
LDN has been used for the treatment of autoimmune conditions of many years although there are no published studies yet on its use in psoriasis or psoriatic arthropathy. I suspect that it would be a very useful treatment for you and is certainly non toxic. It has been used to improve fertility and Dr Phil Boyle will present this at the conference in April. If you want to discuss this further you can contact The Essential Health Clinic on 08000274969 and I will try and call you back.
I am very interested in how your trial is progressing? I have mild to moderate psoriasis however it is getting worse…Any update would be appreciated as I am keen to explore LDN as an option.
hi there
are the results of the psoriasis pilot study known/published as yet?
I have heard of positive responses using LDN (prescribed privately) and am
interested in this. At the mo i am awaiting biologic Enbrel treatment for
my Psoriasis which is extensive at the moment.
kind regards,
Hi wy has the results of this pilot study not been published here ?
Hi,
I live in Western Australia & started using LDN @ 4.5ml 2 days ago.
After going to my local GP with a request for a prescription, he advised me that he was not able to but would make enquiries through a couple of Dermatolagists. After waiting 1 week for a reply, I was told that they knew nothing about it. Which I think is just a load of codswallop..
Where there is a will there is away. I found a source and would be happy to let you know what the results are as I progress.
So far I have had absolutely no side effects at all.
Hi - I have had excellent results with LDN so far (6 months) and can’t recommend it enough for psoriasis! Hopefully the trials will reach the same conclusion.
Where can I access the results of the pilot study?
p.s. - Tom, is there any update on the trials??
Thx
